Although many people delight in its physical attributes, the golden shower can also be used for medicinal purposes.
Physical characteristics
The golden shower is an ornamental tree. Its flowering takes place through hanging bunches of golden flowers. The plant is fast growing, reaching from five to 10 meters in height. Its trunk is greenish-gray in color, while the crown takes on a rounded shape.
The tree has numerous yellow, pentamer and large flowers. The fruits are legume-like, cylindrical, brown in color, and contain 25 to 100 lenticular seeds, brown, lustrous, wrapped in a sweet pulp and with medicinal properties. Although the pulp is edible, the seeds are toxic and should not be eaten.
Active principles
Although many people delight in its physical attributes, the golden shower can also be used for medicinal purposes. This is only possible thanks to its active ingredients, which are: anthraquinonic compounds (rein, senidines), proteins, amino acids, pectins, mucilage, lupeol, flavonoids and sugars.
Indications
The golden rain is a plant that has medicinal properties, despite being unknown to many people. Its use is indicated to treat problems related to increased body temperature, constipation, skin problems and rheumatism.
