VELAME-DO-CAMPO TEA

The field canopy is a shrubby plant that can reach a height of between three and four meters. Its leaves are alternate and oval, and have fine, short and soft hair. Its flowers appear in the form of spikes, white at the tips, aromatic and, like the leaves, hairy. Its fruit is a capsule with three stores, each of which has a stone.

From the Euphorbiaceae family , the plant can also be known as field croton, bush canopy, and minefield canopy. The tree is native to the Brazilian flora and can appear throughout the country, but mainly in the southeast and northeast regions. Field velame herb can be found to buy at health food stores and some compounding pharmacies.

How to prepare tea?

To prepare tea, use the proportion of two tablespoons of the herb for every liter of water used. Put the water in a container, add the herb and heat. Wait for it to boil and then turn off. Keep the solution capped and muffled for about ten minutes, and when it gets warm, strain and consumption. The recommended consumption dose is two to three cups a day.

For cases of flu, fever and hemorrhage, make the decoction with the leaves. To treat syphilis and to use its application as a depurative, make the decoction with the root. In cases of gastric ulcers, and for other purposes, both the leaf and the root can be used, together in a decoction.

For skin problems, it is recommended that the ingested tea be used concomitantly, which should also be used to make compresses – these can also be made with the leaves-.
