Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease that causes dementia in its sufferers, leads to death and, according to research, affects women twice as often as men. This pathology causes forgetfulness and behavior disorders. According to the Brazilian Society of Neurology, about 0.2% of people over 60 years old have this disease. And, even responding to internal and external stimuli, people with Alzheimer’s need to be observed 24 hours a day. The disease usually progresses rapidly, over a period of five to 10 years. At this stage, patients end up dying.

It is important for the elderly’s family to be aware of the first symptoms and seek a doctor as soon as possible. The faster treatment is started, the longer the patient’s life expectancy. Other natural remedies can be used in parallel with the medicine prescribed by the specialist.

Teas that delay and prevent Alzheimer’s disease

magnolia tea

This drink has the ability to relieve stress, improve memory, control anxiety and modulate brain neurotransmitters. Due to these characteristics, magnolia tea is a strong ally in preventing Alzheimer’s. These benefits are found in the active principles of the leaves and flowers of the plant, essentially therapeutic and natural calming.

To prepare the infusion of this tea, it is necessary to crush the leaves and flowers. The ideal measure is one tablespoon of extract in one liter of water. Bring the mixture to a boil and leave for approximately 10 minutes. Allow it to cool down and drink up to two cups of the drink a day.

Black tea with vanilla

Because it contains a high content of caffeine, black tea with vanilla acts as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant in the body’s cells. For this reason, it serves to slow down the spread of Alzheimer’s disease and even prevent it. To make the drink, use a cup of boiling water, a black tea bag and a vanilla pod to flavor the tea.

Put the water in a container and let it boil. Remove from heat and add black tea. Cover and allow to rest for approximately five minutes. Finally, add the vanilla and drink the tea still warm. Treatment should be made on the basis of two cups a day. Avoid taking it at night to avoid insomnia.

Green tea

Like black tea, green tea also has a high caffeine content. In addition, there is a substance in green tea that is able to inhibit the development of the protein responsible for the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Anyone who wants to use green tea as a treatment for this disease, just repeat the same process above, changing the black tea for green and without adding vanilla. The dosage is also the same.
