One of the plants that can provide benefits to our health is senna from the field, scientific name Senna corymbosa . Belonging to the Fabaceae family , this shrub is three meters tall and is also known by other names, such as sena-do-campo, sena-do-mato and senna leaf.
Originating in Brazil and Uruguay, the campo senna usually occurs in secondary vegetation and forest edges. The plant can also be found in Argentina and Paraguay. In Brazil, it is commonly found in the states of Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
Medicinal properties and benefits
The tea from the senna plant from the countryside is known for its laxative property, being indicated for individuals who suffer from constipation. In addition, the plant also contains emollient properties.
The active principles of field senna include anthraquinonic properties. To enjoy the benefits of the plant, just prepare a tea with its leaves.
Country senna tea: how to prepare?
It is very easy to prepare country senna tea. Check out the following guidelines:
- Put a cup of water in a pot;
- Place on fire and turn off as soon as the water starts to boil;
- Put a (coffee) spoon of the plant’s leaves in a cup;
- Pour the water over and cover the cup, leaving the drink muffled for a few minutes.

Country senna tea should only be consumed under medical supervision, as, like any other medicine (natural or not), it can cause undesirable effects on the patient.
