The cold forces people to wear heavier clothes, but it’s also a good time to relax curled up in bed. However, a difficulty that almost everyone has is to warm hands and feet during periods of low temperatures. For this reason, get to know chai, a tea that, in addition to being tasty and nutritious, also helps the body to fight the cold of winter.

chai recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (of tea) of filtered water;
  • 1 cup (of tea) of whole milk;
  • 1 black tea bag;
  • 3 pieces of fresh ginger;
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom;
  • 1 teaspoon of star anise;
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon stick;
  • 1 teaspoon of cloves;
  • Honey to taste.

Method of preparation and consumption

First, put the water together with the loose herbs on the fire and wait for the mixture to come to a boil. When this happens, wait five minutes and add the black tea bag. Simmer for another minute and add the milk. After this step, wait for the mixture to boil for another five minutes.

After the necessary time, turn off the fire. Then cover the pot and let the tea steep for another five minutes. Then just strain and when it’s warm, serve. To improve the flavor, you can add honey – never sugar or sweetener – to taste. The amount of each ingredient listed is enough to yield two cups of chai. So, if you want more, just increase the items proportionately.

Regarding the form of ingestion, this must be careful, considering that the recipe includes black tea. This caution is due to the fact that the spice in question contains caffeine, a substance that interferes with sleep. For this reason, choose to drink at most two cups of this tea a day and away from the night period, to avoid insomnia.
