LONG LIFE TEA

Do you know the rooitea ? The name sounds weird, but we’re talking about a bush called rooibos or red bush . Originally from the Cape Town region of South Africa’s savannahs, rooitea is one of the most consumed infusions on the European continent and in Japan. This infusion was even called “long life tea” by the Japanese.

Discovered over 300 years ago, rooitea resembles traditional types of infusions, it undergoes fermentation and is dried through exposure to sunlight. Much like pipe smoke due to its sweet aroma, rooitea goes through a finishing process through the tobacco cutter.

The rooitea infusion can also receive the addition of fruits and plants, which will add an extra aroma to the drink. The most typical combinations are wild blackberry, strawberry, pepper, coconut shavings, vanilla and caramel.

The method of preparing rooitea tea is simple and does not differ much from the most common types that are known. Just boil the water (amount to taste) for between six and eight minutes. If this time is exceeded, the subtlety of the drink will be lost. Once this is done, the infusion takes on a reddish hue, a characteristic that even led it to be named “red tea”. In addition to the aroma of pipe smoke, the rooitea carries a light and peppery tomato note.

Benefits

Considered an excellent antioxidant and rich in minerals, rooitea acts as an effective anxiolytic – acts against anxiety – natural and also helps in the treatment of problems such as skin allergies, stomach disorders, gas, kidney stones and, above all, insomnia.

People who suffer from sleep disorders, when taking rooitea, at least seven to eight hours of sleep will be guaranteed. It is worth mentioning that, unlike herbs such as Camellia sinensis , rooitea is caffeine-free, so I consider it very light.
