Among its active ingredients are alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, essential oil and mineral salts. Its benefits involve anti-asthmatic, anti-flu, anti-hemorrhoid, antilytic, balsamic, bequica, diuretic, expectorant, hemostatic and pulmonary tonic action.

Rich in mineral salts, the herb is indicated for the treatment of skin and uterine conditions, asthma, bronchitis, kidney stones, bruises, diabetes, muscle pain, pulmonary flu, hemorrhoids, lithiasis, pneumonia, back and chest twinges, colds, rheumatism, kidney problems, cough, tracheobronchitis and other respiratory tract affections.

The tea must be prepared through infusion, with the proportion of six chopped leaves for each liter of water. In a container, bring the water to the fire and bring to a boil, add the leaves and leave on the fire for another ten minutes. Prepared in this way, it has diuretic effects and for the treatment of kidney stones, and should be consumed during the day, with a maximum of four cups.

For bronchitis treatment and expectorant action, pour a cup of hot water over two fish roasting leaves. Wait for it to warm, remove the leaves, sweeten with honey and consume. The recommended dose is one to three cups a day, for a maximum of three days.

For skin treatment, make the decoction . In a container, bring a cup of water to the fire and, when it boils, add three leaves. Leave for five minutes, then turn off the heat. Allow to cool and strain, then apply to the skin lesions.

The syrup , used to treat flu, pneumonia and respiratory ailments, can be made with the proportion of two chopped roasting fish leaves for every cup of tea of ​​water. Boil the water and add the chopped leaves, leaving it on the fire for another five minutes. Strain and add two cups of honey coffee, mixing well. For adults, the ideal is to take a tablespoon, two to three times a day.


No side effects for the consumption of the plant were found in the current literature. Fish roast tea should not be ingested by pregnant women and lactating women.
