Have you ever heard of Dog Knot tea ? This tea is made from the roots and bark of a very Brazilian plant, which is easily found in the Midwest region of the country amidst the cerrado vegetation, mainly in the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás.

The tea from the plant has been studied by many specialists for some time and gained more fame in the scientific community after it was discovered that it contained substances that reduced the side effects of Cyclosporine, a medicine widely used to combat autoimmune diseases and in patients who have recently undergone organ transplants.

The benefits for tea drinkers

Measuring between 1m and 1.5m in height, the Dog Knot, scientific name “ Heteropteris aphrodisiaca”, became known in Brazil (and abroad) thanks to its aphrodisiac and invigorating power , but these are not only benefits that can be found in tea . Medicinal properties that combat nervous debility are also found in the Dog Knot, which is also an antioxidant, hypocholesterolemic and vasodilator.

It is also common to use Puppy Knot tea as an aid in the treatment of vision, ulcers, rheumatism and to improve memory.

How to make tea?

  1. In a saucepan, place a liter of water and two tablespoons of Dog Knot root.
  2. Bring the pan to the fire, wait for it to come to a boil and turn it off after ten minutes.
  3. Keep the pan covered and let the mixture “rest” for another ten minutes.
  4. Strain and drink warm or iced.

It is advisable to consume two to three cups of tea a day, so that the effects of the Puppy Knot are felt more quickly.

As nothing is perfect, in contrast to the enormous amount of benefits that the Dog Knot brings to the body, the contraindication of tea also draws attention. If taken in excess, Puppy Knot tea can damage the reproductive system, especially the male, even causing infertility in some cases.
