The menstrual cramps , also called dysmenorrhea , pelvic pain is one which occurs due to release of prostaglandins, substances responsible for making the uterus to contract and then remove the endometrium. The endometrium, in turn, is the inner layer of the uterus that grows to nourish the embryo, and in the case of non-fertilization of the egg, the endometrium flakes off and is eliminated in the form of bleeding.

About 50% of women experience menstrual cramps at some stage of life, dysmenorrhea can be of two types: primary and secondary. When the cause is increased prostaglandin production from the endometrium, it is called primary; when it is the result of pathological alterations, it is of the secondary type.

Heads up

As mentioned above, self-medicating is not the ideal path. Our intention here is just to encourage your curiosity. The right thing is for you, before drinking any tea, to ask your doctor if this is the best option for your health. We highlight this, as some substances can cause harmful reactions in your body and only with a medical consultation is it possible to analyze your case.
